Press ReleaseBrussels, Indigo Sierra, July 20, 2025

The Global Council for Investment and Busines (GCIB), in partnership with Off Grid Europe, is charting a new course for the continent’s energy development. During the inauguration ceremony of its Vice Presidents in Brussels, CMIA signed a strategic agreement with the German company, a pioneer in sustainable energy solutions.

This agreement marks the launch of an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming Africa’s energy landscape, beginning with the establishment of Off Grid Senegal.

The project is part of a broader pan-African vision, with the upcoming launch of Off Grid Zambia and Off Grid Angola to address the growing demand for reliable and sustainable energy infrastructure.

Off Grid Europe will bring its engineering and digitalization expertise to the table, strengthening Senegal’s industrial and technological capacity. A national hub will be established in the country for the manufacturing and maintenance of solar solutions. The first solar-powered cold room is scheduled to be inaugurated in Podor in October 2025.

This partnership also includes a large-scale program to solarize public and private buildings, aligned with the Senegalese government's strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Turnkey photovoltaic solutions will be offered, supported by local maintenance services and innovative financing mechanisms.

The initial targets of this program include schools, health centers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and community infrastructure, all contributing to the development of a resilient and green ecosystem.

Christiane Kragh, newly appointed Vice President of GCIB and CEO of Off Grid Europe, reaffirmed her commitment to an inclusive energy transition in Africa, with a particular focus on Senegal, Cape Verde, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique, and South Africa.

“Together, we are building a sustainable energy future for the African continent.”
